July 24 Public Hearing on 
Additional Funding for Bethesda Market Park


On July 24 at 5 p.m. by Zoom, the Town Council will hold a public hearing on a resolution to provide additional funds to the Bethesda Market Park project to maintain the quality and standard for the park that conforms to the initial vision and plans. Having considered residents’ input on this matter, the Town Council voted unanimously on July 10 to introduce this resolution with a series of conditions that must be met before such funding is provided. The Council welcomes comments on the resolution, either by email in advance of our meeting or at the July 24 public hearing.

Town Council Seeks Input on 
County's Multi-Family Housing Proposals


On June 24, the Planning Department presented its rezoning recommendations during the County Council's Planning, Housing, and Parks (PHP) Committee meeting. The PHP held a work session on July 8 and will hold another work session on July 22 to discuss the details of the recommendations before potentially introducing a Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) this fall.

Community Meetings Planned for 
Bethesda Downtown Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment

On June 27, the Montgomery County Planning Board approved the scope of work for the Bethesda Downtown Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment, which will take a fresh look at the 2017 Bethesda Downtown Plan’s implementation recommendations related to economic development, park development, transportation improvements, schools, affordable housing, and community recreation. The plan amendment is limited in nature. It retains the same boundary and will not re-open the entire 2017 Plan. Read the scope of work.
