Town and Other Municipalities Submit Second Letter to Legislature on Housing Bill

The Town, along with 11 other down county municipalities, sent a second letter today to our State legislature regarding the proposed “Starter and Silver Homes Act” that we have previously discussed with residents. This letter reviews amendments accepted by the Department of Housing and Community Development, notes the outstanding issues that would still compromise our building regulations, and sets out fundamental concerns regarding the bill. Our recommendation to the respective Committees is to not proceed with the bill this year, as too much work needs to be done in such a compressed time frame to craft a law that could receive broad support.
