Join Us Tonight: Land Use and Long-Range Planning Committee Meeting Discussing County Attainable Housing Strategies, 7 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend tonight's joint Land Use and Long-Range Planning Committee meeting, taking place at Town Hall beginning at 7 p.m. Members will discuss the County Planning Department's Attainable Housing Strategies Initiative (AHSI) recommendations. Through AHSI, the County Council has directed Planning staff to identify ways to grow housing supply and expand housing choices throughout the county, to meet projected household growth, and to expand homeownership opportunities.
Among the current recommendations are proposals to permit duplexes and triplexes by right. Given our Town's location within a Priority Housing District, quadplexes will also be permitted by right. Furthermore, lots along Connecticut Avenue will qualify for the Attainable Housing Optional Method (AHOM) of development, which would allow for denser housing construction, provided that the average unit size does not exceed 1500 sq ft and a certain proportion of units are priced moderately.
Residents unable to attend tonight are encouraged to reach out to the Town Council with any questions by emailing townoffice@townofchevychase.org. Each inquiry will receive a prompt response.
