Corso Application Accepted by Planning Department

120 Day Review Period Has Begun

Corso Chevy Chase’s development application has been accepted by the County Planning Department for review.. The application documents include the Preliminary Plan (which reviews the lot/subdivision), the Site Plan (which reviews the project for zoning conformance and design), and the Forest Conservation Plan.

The date of official acceptance was October 4, which marked the start of the mandatory 120-day review period. Based on the acceptance date and review period, the project will follow the below schedule:

-- Pre-Development Review Committee Meeting: 10/16/2023

-- Development Review Committee Meeting: 10/24/2023

-- First Resubmittal by Corso: 11/8/2023

-- Final Resubmittal by Corso: 11/28/2023

-- Agency Approval Letters Due: 12/18/2023

-- Planning Staff Report Posting: 1/22/2024

-- Planning Board Hearing: 2/1/2024

The Town will continue to review these documents as it must provide initial comments by noon on Friday, October 20 so that the Planning Department can transmit all comments to Corso for discussion at the Development Review Committee (DRC) meeting on October 24.

At its October 11 meeting, the Council discussed the Town’s participation in the plan review process and our interest in reviewing specific elements of the plan, including site access, stormwater management, tree protection, lighting, phasing plans, landscape plans, building materials, etc.

Residents may review the application documents and provide comments to the Town Council at townoffice@townofchevychase.org.

Leaf Collection to Begin on October 16

Leaf vacuuming will begin on October 16 and continue through December 22. Please rake leaves to the edge of the curb for collection, and please make sure that your leaves are not contaminated by cans, sticks, bottles, or rocks.

If you or your landscape company plan to use gas-powered leaf blowers this fall (allowed from October 15 to December 31), please follow the Town’s quiet hours schedule and refrain from using them before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. on weekdays and before 12 p.m. or after 6 p.m. on weekends.  Better yet, please encourage/ask your landscapers to continue using the electric-powered leaf blowers they have been using over the last two years that the Town has had a partial ban on GPLBs in place.

Please Consider Supporting Our Town’s 15th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Effort

The Town’s 15th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner effort is off to a good start. A huge thanks to our neighbors who have contributed to help us purchase grocery cards for all 100 families. There is still time to participate. Here’s how you can help.

Drop off/mail a check payable to YMCA/YFS or Giant or Aldi gift cards to Georgia Guhin (4006 Rosemary Street, Chevy Chase, MD 20815) between October 1 and 31.

With record high prices at the grocery stores, 100% of your donation of any amount will help MCPS families in need with food over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
