Native Canopy Tree Planting Program

The Town continues to offer the Native Tree Canopy Planting Program in fiscal year 2011-2012, which began on July 1, 2011. The Town will offer up to thirty residents the opportunity to participate in the program. A sign up form is available here.

As part of the program, the Town will purchase canopy trees, pay for the service to plant the trees on the homeowner’s property, and provide a water bag to assist with the care needed in the critical first year after planting. The resident will be responsible for the long-term care of the tree once installed.

The program aims to enhance the Town’s tree canopy and to contribute to the goal of adding 130 new trees to the Town each year. These native canopy trees will benefit the entire Town over time by providing shade, runoff control, carbon dioxide absorption and energy savings.
