ThanksGIVING in October -- 14th Annual Town Thanksgiving Dinner Project

Once again, our Town has been asked to help 100 MCPS families over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Food insecurity remains very real for many of nearby neighbors in our county. Here is how you can help.

Drop off/mail a check payable to YMCA/YFS or Giant or Aldi gift cards to Georgia Guhin (4006 Rosemary Street, Chevy Chase, MD 20815) between October 1 and 31. If you would like us to pick up your donation, contact one of us below. Your donation will help purchase a $100 food card for each of the 100 families. All additional funds raised will go toward extra gift cards. 100% of your donation will support MCPS families in need. The YMCA is not able to accept online donations for this special project. You will receive an acknowledgement of your donation from the YMCA.

Have questions? Send an email to the Town Office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org; to Georgia Guhin at gbguhin@gmail.com; to Bridget Hartman at bridget@hartmanjr.net; or Katie Vita at katie.vita@gmail.com.

Leaf Collection to Begin in October

Leaf vacuuming will begin in late October.  Please rake leaves to the edge of the curb for collection.  If you or your landscape company plan to use gas-powered leaf blowers this fall (allowed from October 15 to December 31), please follow the Town’s quiet hours schedule and refrain from using them before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. on weekdays and before 12 p.m. or after 6 p.m. on weekends.  Better yet, please continue to use, and encourage your contractor to use, battery or electric blowers this fall.

Trash & Treasures

Trash & Treasures, October 8-9

The Town’s fall Trash and Treasures is scheduled for the weekend of October 8-9. The Town offers this curbside bulk trash collection so that residents can dispose of items that are no longer usable. Please remember to bag, box, or contain all of your discards, and do not put items at the curb before noon on October 7 or after 7 a.m. on October 10. If you have items that can be recycled or repurposed, we encourage you to come to the Lawton Center on October 8 for our Alternatives to Trash & Treasures event.

Fall Festival

2022 Fall Festival, October 15

The Town of Chevy Chase is partnering with the Jane E. Lawton Center to host the 2022 Fall Festival.  The event will take place on October 15 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Lawton Center parking lot, Town Hall, and inside the Lawton Center.  Join us for an art exhibit, performances by the Bethesda Chevy Chase Jazz Band, pumpkin painting, food trucks, free Ben and Jerry's ice cream, a moon bounce, and so much more!  All ages welcome!

Meet your neighbors and new families for coffee and a children’s play date on Sunday, October 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lawton Center playground.  Snacks will be provided.
