On June 8, the Town Council discussed the updated concept plan for redevelopment of the former 4-H property and heard comments from the Town's 4-H Special Committee. The Council agreed to request additional information from the developers, including details about the height and massing of the proposed buildings. Once that information is received and shared publicly, the Town will solicit resident feedback. View the video and slideshow of the June 2 developers' presentation of the updated redevelopment concept plan.

On June 8, the Council discussed the Farm Women’s Market parks project, including the draft Letter of Intent (LOI) between the involved parties and the financial commitments from each party. Mayor Rush noted that the draft LOI requests that the Town increase its financial contribution by $500,000. The Town’s Long-Range Planning and Land Use Committee will review the LOI and provide feedback to the Town Council. The Council will then solicit input from residents and formulate a response to the LOI.

Purple Line construction activity will begin this summer and continue for three years. This will be followed by 12 to 16 months of testing. Full commercial operation is expected by late 2026. During the next six months, the new consortium intends to undertake the following work in the vicinity of the Town: (i) complete the Sleaford underpass; (ii) continue building the retaining walls behind Town homes; and (iii) re-start blasting and excavation of the lower concourse for the new southern entrance to the Red Line. On June 8, the Council agreed to send a letter to the Maryland Transit Administration and the new Purple Line partnership detailing past agreements with the Town, including a higher noise wall behind Town homes and reduced use of an audible warning system on the tracks adjacent to the Town.

The Town Council encourages you to volunteer for a Town committee, board, or commission. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to spend one hour per week, on average, extending your talents, working with fellow residents, and improving our community.

The Town Council approved this ban in response to resident concerns about noise and other impacts of this type of landscaping equipment. The regulations exempt gas-powered snow blowers and sprayers. Montgomery County noise regulations also remain in effect in the Town.
